The Whole Hog was formed in late 2010 to play covers of Bluegrass, Country, Americana and Irish music. The idea for the band came from similar bands that play in Honky Tonks and bars in Nashville but with an Irish flavour. The band play a broad and eclectic mix of covers from artists like Johnny Cash, The Eagles, Garth Brooks, Neil Young, The Band, Steve Earle, Bruce Springsteen, Kris Kristofferson, Union Station etc to Irish artists like Horslips, Goats Don’t shave, Sharon Shannon, Van Morrison, and put their own stamp on rock covers from AC/DC , Green Day, Thin Lizzy etc and contemporary acts like Mumford and Sons , Old Crow Medicine Show . Added to the mix are some Irish Jigs and reels and popular Irish songs.

The Whole Hog Band’s single “fiddle in the band” was released in May 2013 and raised money for The Children’s Hospital in Crumlin in association with the Hillbilly Tractor run in Ballyknockan. The video for the song was played on Hot Country and The Phil Mack country show on Showcase TV on SKY TV. It also received a lot of airplay on local radio in Ireland. In 2014 the band received an award at the Leinster Entertainment awards for best Debut album, Tracks from the album were played on local radio all over Ireland and even made their way to the UK and USA.

The Whole Hog Band are a unique act and guarantee an upbeat crowd pleasing set that appeals to all ages. The band are all experienced professional musicians and singers and have years of gigging experience. Members of the band have played with Manic Street Preachers, Mary Coughlan, Bill Whelan, Eleanor McEvoy Ronan Hardiman, Rob Strong, Pat McManus and toured extensively throughout Ireland, Europe and beyond.

The Whole Hog Band is a unique and entertaining act. The band have played weddings, hog roasts, barbeques, 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th birthday parties as well as pubs, clubs and festivals.
